Review of The Little Rainbow by Cassie Lloyd

The Little RainbowThe Little Rainbow by Cassie Lloyd
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In The Little Rainbow, we follow the story of the Earth and all of her magnificent beauty. On one hand, the Earth was happy with her many wonders, but on the other, she was lonely because she had no one to talk to. Her loneliness led to sadness until the great rains came – so much rain that she asked God to send something to stop it. She waited a long time, until finally God sent the Little Rainbow.

This book is a new take on a biblical story that many of us are familiar with. In Genesis, God sends Noah a promise in the form of a rainbow. The Little Rainbow is a more simplified version of the biblical story, making it geared perfectly towards young children. I could see The Little Rainbow used in Sunday school as a valuable tool to teach children about God’s love.

The one thing I would like to have seen is larger pictures. Although the story definitely does not rely heavily on pictures, from experience I know that little ones enjoy following along via photos and drawings.

I would recommend The Little Rainbow to Sunday school teachers, parents and caregivers. This is a lovely story with a timeless message! received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
